BSS: Jacobsen seizes chance with both hands

24 September 2012

Young American sensation PJ Jacobsen stepped up and grasped the opportunity to ride the Tyco Suzuki GSX-R600 at Assen with both hands yesterday.

The exciting New Yorker, who gave the Northern Ireland team victory in the Metzeler National Superstock race at Donington Park, made the most of his chance to compete in the Supersport class as he notched a dramatic victory in race two on his debut in the series.

Jacobsen, ninth in Saturday's Supersport encounter, said a better tyre and bike set-up made all the difference as he continues to impress team boss Phillip Neill.

"On Sunday we had a way better tyre and set-up of the bike, and like Philip told me, I just put Saturday's result in the box and forgot about the disappointment,” he said.

“I knew the second race would go down to the wire and I also know these boys can be super aggressive so I had to give the same back.

“But I think I proved on Sunday that the Suzuki GSX-R600 is a top Supersport bike, and at a circuit where you are pretty much wide open for a lot of the lap.”

Dublin's Jack Kennedy continues to lead the championship, but holds an advantage of just 4.5 points over Glen Richards with the final round remaining.

Kennedy finished as the runner-up on Saturday, when Christian Iddon triumphed, but was ruled out of Sunday's race.
