Haga covets strong end to rookie season

26 September 2012

Noriyuki Haga is hopeful he can challenge for a rostrum finish at Silverstone despite still suffering the effects of his damaged shoulder.

The Swan Yamaha rider boasts a stunning record at Silverstone in World Superbikes, where he has previously finished on the podium six times and earned a coveted victory at the Northamptonshire venue.

Nitro Nori feels he has taken another step in the right direction with the set-up of his YZF-R1 at Assen and is targeting a positive end to his maiden season in the MCE British Superbike Championship for Shaun Muir's team at the remaining two rounds of the series.

“At Assen we found a good direction with the setting and we feel positive that this could work at Silverstone too,” said Haga, who sustained a broken collarbone following a spill at Cadwell.

“I like this track as before in World Superbike I have had good results there and know the track well.

“My shoulder has not had time to improve any more as there is little time between races but I still try hard to get podiums.”

Haga is currently eighth in the championship, three points behind WFR Honda's James Westmoreland.
