BSS: Seeley joins former rival Wilson at Gearlink
7 November 2012
Gearlink Kawasaki have signed former British Superstock and Supersport champion Alastair Seeley to partner Ben Wilson for 2013 British Supersport Championship.
Seeley and Wilson were major rivals in 2011 (pictured), with the Ulsterman beating Wilson to the Championship crown by only one point.
2013 will now see them pair up as team-mates for the British Supersport series, with Seeley also racing in the Northwest 200.
The 33-year-old will compete for Gearlink in the Supersport races and for MSS Kawasaki in the Superbike and Superstock classes.
"I'm really pleased to have come to an arrangement and signed a deal with Gearlink Kawasaki," said Seeley, who spent the 2012 season with Tyco Suzuki in BSB.
"I'm back on a Supersport bike which is where I am happiest and really hope the results will start coming back again.
It's been a tough year in the Superbike class and I'm really eager to get a good result next season.
"I had a brief test at Mallory last week but it was wet and very cold and I didn't want to do anything stupid but was happy to get a deal sorted with Michael."
Team Manager Michael de Bidaph added: "This is a fantastic signing for us, it will involve a lot of work but I really think now is the right time to have two riders that can potentially win the Championship for Gearlink Kawasaki.
"This news has given everyone involved a boost and we are really excited about running Ben and Alastair alongside each other on the Kawasakis. We want to get back to winning races again and believe the two top riders will inspire each other to go well."
Seeley - team-mate to title fighter Josh Brookes - finished second in the wet opening 2012 BSB round at Brands Hatch, but eventually slipped to 13th in the standings.
Wilson and Gearlink were fifth, with one victory, in BSS this year.
