Linfoot expects 'surprises' at Brands Hatch

27 March 2013

Dan Linfoot expects the opening round of the MCE British Superbike Championship in April to 'throw up some surprises'.

The Lloyds British GBmoto Honda rider returns to the series following a year in the World Supersport Championship and despite a lack of track action due to freezing weather conditions at the official BSB tests, Linfoot is satisfied overall with the limited time he has spent on the Fireblade.

He expects a level playing field at Brands Hatch on April 7 and believes the established frontrunners could have their feathers ruffled as the season blasts off following a long winter.

“After the winter off everyone starts the season pretty equal and then it is only after a few rounds where everyone raises their game where they have had more time on the bike, so for that reason I believe Brands Hatch could spring up some surprises,” Linfoot told the official British Superbike website.

“I just hope we can make it us and the Lloyds British GBmoto Honda team.

“Brands can't come soon enough for me as I have really enjoyed riding the Lloyds British GBmoto Honda so far.

“We have had limited time on the bikes unfortunately due to the conditions but in the time that I have had the team have made me feel more comfortable on the Fireblade and things have been coming together nicely,” he added.

“It is hard for us to start looking at making targets as we haven't seen the whole grid in race mode' yet but I definitely know where I need to be at the end of the season.”

His GBmoto team-mate, Peter Hickman, is targeting a brace of top eight results at Brands and 'can't wait to get started'.

“We have been unfortunate with testing but to be honest I have never really relied too much on that before in my career as I often haven't had the opportunity,” he said.

“I know where I want to be and what expectations I have for the season as a whole, but for the opening round we need to be inside the top ten in both races, personally I want to be in the top eight - I just can't wait to get started now.”
