BSB Oulton Park: Jacobsen rues missed opportunity

8 May 2013

Tyco Suzuki's PJ Jacobsen felt he could have pushed veteran British Superbike stalwart Chris Walker for sixth place before he was forced out of race two at Oulton Park.

The American rookie claimed his best BSB result of his maiden season in the series with eighth in race one.

However, machine problems halted Jacobsen's progress in the second race as he was preparing to challenge Quattro Plant Kawasaki rider Walker.

“It was a difficult weekend: the first session was rained off and we only got one free practice in FP2 as we got a mechanical in FP3; then in qualifying we suffered another problem but I went into race one with a good attitude and eighth was a great result – my best ever in BSB,” he said.

“In race two I was looking for a whole lot more but we were forced to retire, which is a pity, as I believe I could have challenged Chris Walker for sixth.”

Tyco Suzuki team manager, Phillip Neill, said the New York prospect had shown a 'great attitude' at the Bank Holiday Monday meeting despite his misfortune.

“What can I say for PJ, apart from when the lad has bad luck, he really has bad luck,” said Neill.

“Taking the positives, he showed a great attitude and got stuck in and is gaining confidence and more experience all the time.”
