BSS: Sykes heads wet Brands practice

Tom Sykes on the TAS Suzuki lead the way during a rain interrupted first free practice at Brands Hatch for the final round of the British Supersport Championship.

Second fastest was Eugene Laverty who will be out to make amends after crashing out at Silverstone, and with a double header this weekend due to the cancellation of the Mondello round earlier in the year, he is hoping for a double podium finish.

Pete Spalding who wrapped up the Supersport Cup title at Croft and is now making inroads into the full championship runners on a regular basis was in third place, with Leon Camier on the Northpoint Ekerold Honda in fourth.

Tommy Bridewell on the Vivaldi Suzuki was going well in the wet, finishing in fifth place, ahead of newly crowned British Supersport Champion, Cal Crutchlow.

Steve Plater who is on the MSS Discovery Kawasaki this weekend was seventh with Christian Elkin on the Triumph in eighth. Kieran Murphy and Jamie Robinson rounded out the top ten runners.

Two road racers are present in this weekend's Supersport class, Guy Martin on the AIM Yamaha and Ryan Farquhar on the Slick Performance Kawasaki. Martin finished in twelfth place and Farquhar in sixteenth.
