Ellison joins Camier at GSE Yamaha

GSE Racing have confirmed Leon Camier and James Ellison will form their rider line-up for the 2009 Bennetts British Superbike season.

The team made the announcement just days after concluding their championship winning 2008 season and ahead of their high-profile switch to Yamaha machinery in 2009.

Set to signal a new era for Colin Wright's team, Camier will remain with them for a second season, while Ellison moves from the Hydrex Bike Animal Honda outfit.

Destined to be the best placed rider from this year's championship to remain in BSB next season, three-time winner Camier is confident he will graduate to become a title contender in 2009.

“I'm delighted to be staying with GSE Racing for 2009; having already spent a season working so well together we can focus on building on our results from this year and fighting for the title right from the start. The new partnership with Yamaha signals an exciting new era for GSE Racing and one that I am really pleased to be a part of. Now I can't wait to begin testing the YZF-R1!”

Former MotoGP racer Ellison, meanwhile, arrives at the team having revived his reputation as one of Britain's foremost riders. Although a victory would elude him on his return to BSB this year, four podiums and a top five finish as a World Superbike wild-card was enough to make him hot property heading into the off-season.

Naturally he is delighted to be representing a manufacturer team in BSB, particularly the Yamaha brand for whom he has ridden for in the past.

“To be riding for the most successful team in the paddock represents a fantastic opportunity for me; I'm ecstatic. I came close to signing with the team in 2005 and kept in contact with Colin Wright ever since just in case another chance came up and now finally, here I am!

“I'm really looking forward to riding a Yamaha once again and hopefully repeating the success I had with them back in 2004.”

It has not been confirmed whether title sponsor Airwaves will remain on board.
