Laverty leads Supersport free practice two

1 January 1901

The second practice session at Thruxton for the third round of the British Supersport championship saw Ireland's Eugene Laverty fastest, posting a 1min 18.673sec lap on board his Red Bull Honda.

The session was held under conditions offically classified as damp, but they were far better than the wet of the day's earlier first session.

Stuart Easton, former Supersport champ, was lapping just 0.1secs off Laverty's time on his Lloyd's British Ducati, with current championship leader Cal Crutchlow on the Northpoint Ekerold Honda in third.

Only the top three were lapping in the 1min 18secs, with defending champion Leon Camier taking up fourth place, taking time to become accustomed with his new team and machine set up. Dennis Hobbs on the Padgetts Honda was fifth, adjusting well to the smaller machinery, and enjoying his new challenge.

Steve Plater who is doubling up this weekend by racing Superbike and Supersport, came home in with the 15th fastest time.
