Howard confident for 2009.

Beechdean Motorsport team boss Andrew Howard says he is excited about the 2009 season following the recent announcement of a link-up with Barwell for the new Avon Tyres British GT Championship campaign.

The two teams will come together to run a multi-class programme next season, with Howard and team-mate Jamie Smyth moving into GT3 with an Aston Martin DBRS9 in an effort to fight for the overall title.

Barwell will also run a DBRS9 in the GT3 class, while the Barwell-Beechdean partnership will also run two Vantage GT4s in the GT4 class with drivers still to be decided.

“We are very excited about the campaign for 2009,” Howard said. “Barwell are a winning team so our association with them should only help our cause. Our aim is to put ourselves in a position to win the British GT3 and GT4 Championship and to do that we need to work extremely hard, and prepare as much as possible. The association with Barwell will allow us to do just that.

“I am also delighted to be driving alongside Jamie Smyth the 2007 GTC Champion for the second year. We had a tough 2008 but we are looking forward with confidence to the year ahead.”
