Austrian racer Niki Lanik has completed a day of testing with the Beechdean Motorsport team as he evaluates his possible options for the 2009 season.
The 21-year-old has spent recent years competed in the Renault Clio Cup and finished fifth in the standings in 2008, having previously lifted the Clio Winter Cup in both 2006 and 2007.
Despite spending much of his career running with front-wheel drive, front-engined machinery, Lanik was soon up to speed at the wheel of the GT4-spec Aston Martin N24 and admitted that the prospect of moving into endurance events was an interesting one for the season ahead.
“I need to make sure I get a good deal set up,” he said. “If I participate in endurance events, such as British GT or European GT4, I need to ensure I have a fast team mate so we can help each other win the championship. At the moment I still do not know where I will be racing this season.
“There are many good deals around and many teams are showing interest. There are also many races in European and Eastern countries which are of interest to me, having been born in Vienna.”
