Having run a selected programme in the British GT Championship in 2009, Barwell Motorsport has announced plans to take its Zytek-powered Ginetta G50Z to the Britcar GT Championship in 2010.
The car, which won three times as an Invitational Class entry in British GT this year, also contested a number of Britcar events during 2009 and finished second in the season finale at Brands Hatch.
The car will be developed over the winter by Barwell and Ginetta Cars, with the focus on fighting for title success in Britcar GT and in the Silverstone 24 Hours, which returns to the schedule next year.
“The Britcar Championship was one of this year's success-stories in British motorsport, which was underlined by the fact that the Brands GT night race had an incredible 32 cars on the grid from twelve different major makes,” Barwell MD Mark Lemmer said. “We feel that the time is right for Barwell to contest the whole championship, and the Ginetta G50Z-Zytek is the perfect car to do it with.
"It's capable of winning the title and is a very cost-effective GT racing car.”
