It's great to hear that James is back, also great to hear that he can still get the championship due to the new BSB rules. This is a man who can win, even carrying an injury like this.

Whilst I am pleased to see James is back to fitness and able to get back on the bike I am not impressed that after a two month break he could (or anyone else in a similar situation) potentially win the championship! The rules simply do not work - what if Tommy Hill is leading the championship by over 100 points when it gets to the cut off phase and then he goes on to break his leg. Same accident as James but there would be a totally different result as he would no longer be in a position to take the championship. The new rules turn the championship into a bit of a Lottery with luck playing a greater role in the outcome than it has previously.

@ efan

I have huge respect for Ellison, would have bet on him before and after the start of the season and wouldn't bet against him now.

BUT

The idea he'd be able to close up the gap and be in with a shout of taking the win without the new rules without some disaster befalling Tommy Hill.... He might (or might not) be a smidgin better than Hill but he sure as hell isn't so much better that that's a likely scenario.

Didn't know anyone was selling rose-tinted visors :p

Who knows if he reads this board but I'd like to wish him all the best. He was shaping up to be the target man of the field before the crash happened. He's mad at the organisers for not letting him back at Cadwell. He'll be on it straight away IMO.

Good luck to him for sure.

But for all he was pyzzed about not being allowed to ride at Cadwell let's keep it in perspective. He genuinely wasn't fit. He wasn't seriously going to race. The game plan was to capitalise on the 'credit for starting and ability to discard a couple of results'.

I don't fault him for that. Its a sane response to an insane set of rules.

But it was gamesmanship, not bike racing.

I spoke to James after Cadwell. He wasn't mad at the organisers he was angry at having to do 30 squats on his bad leg. which no other rider has ever had to do,
He told me that that the circuit was a very physically demanding circuit and understood there would be a test, but what they did was wholly unreasonable. As for the BSB organisers he accepted their decision. He said they felt it would be dangerous to aloow him to go ahead. But I have my own theory on this whole week end. I think some of the other teams saw that the new points system would work for James and Threw a Giant Wabbler...... just my theory anyway
