What a crazy format.

I have stopped following this year because of the points system and other crazy rules. I do read the odd story because im interested in the riders and championship and i might catch the odd race - but im not following such a stupid system!

Good luck everyone - including the people who stay to work out the results!

Last year it probably would've been more exciting with the new points system, but this year everyone's so close it'd be good with the old system. They probably shouldn't have changed it, all the top riders are separated by only like 25 points now anyways.

I think the ridiculous points system has taken the shine off a great championship, although I'm not as keen as before I still watch it because it's bike racing. It's going to lose more credibilty if there's a two or three way tie for sixth at the cut-off. Dropped scores just add to the confusion.
I'd like to see Rutter or Hill win it, but I think it'll be Kiyo or Brookes. I hope whoever wins it would have won with normal scoring.

My eyes just glaze over as soon as they start blathering on about this ridiculous convoluted points system, I've frankly lost interest other than to watch the if they had stuck with the straightforward conventional system there was a point over last weekend when 3 riders were tied on points at the head of the championship, so what the f*ck was wrong with it?
The likes of Swan Honda are set for a demotivating run in to the end of the season now, they could go for wins but there'll always be the added complication of not interfering with the 'chosen 6' is absolutely pointless! (pun intended)

What happens after Cadwell? Do those BSB riders outside the top 6 save their sponsor's & their own money by staying at home, leaving the 6 super heroes to fight it out for the championship plus the EVO guys who still have a championship to race for?
If Mr Palmer wanted a close competition he should have left the racing as it was and awarded points wsuch that the winner gets 15 pts down to 1 point for 15th.
The current system is very confusing for an old man to follow. Do the points now being shown on BSB websites include the riders' worst result or has that already been dropped? :?

I used to laugh at NASCAR's Chase For the Championship system. I hated its over-emphasis of races late in the season, its patronising atittude towards viewers (are attendances and viewing figures acutally lower when the title is decided? I know my interest doesn't drop as long as the actual racing is still good), and the bizarre assumption that someone with a huge lead after most of the season will suddenly drop the ball in the last few. I never thought it'd be tried here. We should get an exciting battle for the championship, but most of the field will lose out seriously as a result.

A quickie run down of the points system......

From their total scores at the end of the MAIN Season (ie AFTER Cadwell) all riders will drop their 2 worst scores which must be from events they have at least qualified for.

From these points the first 6 riders in the championship table will go to a new base level and become the Title Fighters for the final 3 events and 7 races of the championship.

Each Title Fighter starts The Showdown on 500 points + extra points for each podium they got in the Main Season eg 3 for a win 2 for a second & 1 for a third.

(post to follow as running out of room) :D

These are called Podium Credits. For instance, a rider placed in the top six of the standings at the end of the Main Season who scored three wins, two seconds and a third would start The Showdown phase with 514 points.

The usual points scoring format that is used in the Main Season then continues for The Showdown, with all points scores from the final seven races counting.

All riders who dont make it to the top six continue to race for the BSB Riders' Cup, continuing to add to their points total from the end of the Main Season. This also applies to the new BSB EVO class

Hope this helps :)
