As many as eight riders are challenging for three obvious 'Title Showdown' spots with four rounds remaining.

I know all the riders are aware of the rules before the season starts but the points system makes a mockery of the whole championship when a rider has under performed for half a season then gets a clean slate to try again.
Hope they scrap it for next year.

I agree with Gaz 100%

this makes a mockery of the championship.

there are going to be odd years when one rider dominates..well good for him...but there are also years when it goes down to the wire...this is a mummers farce...it makes an artificial end to the true season..as fans we should only be bothered with the real points scored...the sooner they dump this overcomplicated ******** of a system the better

thankfully last year the end result wasn't altered by the system, kiyo champ in both ways. This year I fully expect kiyo to make it comfortably in providing he gets his confidence in the wet back. Or it just doesn't rain!

There's pretty universal agreement that this system stinks and denegrates the hard work that riders put in to achieve good results in the first part of the season.....the temptation is to take the pi*s, do just enough to get into the shootout or not bother turning up once your place is guaranteed.
The first race lap times dictating grid positions for race 2 has some merit but even then it can be abused eg. Rutter pulled in from the first race with a problem but deliberately went out again later in the race with a soft tyre just to set a time to get him onto the front of the grid for race 2...within the rules as they stand but hardly in the spirit of competition methinks.

This points system is a steaming crock of sh--!

I agree the grid position for race two set from fastest race laps is good and would like to see this in WSB. Also would like to see prevention of the trick pulled by Rutter - only times set on the tyres on which the bike started the race should count.

If we do get a complete travesty of a result maybe it will result in a change of the rules. However this is these guys career and their chance of going back to WSBK or MotoGP could be affected by this daft shootout system. It puts the riders under massive and artificial pressure which could lead to accidents as well as possibly resulting in an undeserving "champion"

If some of this years BSB riders are hoping to be moving on in 2012 to Moto gp or wsbk being the BSB champion will not matter one bit. These deals are signed and sealed well before the shootout stage of the championship. The only way into the world championship paddock is to have a vast amount of cash.Walking into the Moto gp or wsbk paddock with just a big 1st place BSB championship trophy to offer will get you no where.CASH IS KING...NOT TALENT.
