John Hopkins comes away from Oulton Park empty-handed, despite dominating free practice, scoring pole position and leading the only race of the day.

What does it matter?

With the BSB format as long as you are in the top 6 race by race results aren't as important. This format gives riders a huge margin of error. But it punishes the rider who is in the lead at the end of the "regular" season and rewards the other less consistent riders with a shot at the title.

Hopper has impressed this season, I am not that surprised though. I look forward to seeing how he gets on at Cadwell Park & what he thinks of that circuit.
Also he likes the Brands Hatch GP layout from when he guest rode the GP bike round. He would make a worthy champion & deserves a step back up to the world stage for 2012 I think!

...punishes regular season leader???....hardly
it puts the top 6 in a position for the title...
One still is awarded a "regular season" title for being on top...
what would you do? give a #1 plate and a trophy at the end of the "regular" campaign and then everyone goes home?!
with so many variables like injury or weather or an over inflated tire due to a glitchy tire warmer, it seems that the top 6 have earned a shot at the title...
some GP500 winners didn't even race out the season once the title was that better for you mr. doggy bag???

"what would you do? give a #1 plate and a trophy at the end of the "regular" campaign and then everyone goes home?!"

um, Yes.

Doesn't every other major motorcycle championship give out a trophy to the guy with the most points at the end of the year and not some false playoff??

And while you are being a asshat, you fail to realize guys like Shakey and Hopper don't have to show up to the last couple of rounds of the regular season being that they will already be well in the top 6. Is that what you want Mr. Assmunch??

How come something be stupid and true?

But the fact is I never said they wouldn't race - I said they don't have to if they are already qualified for the "shoot out" if they choose. There is a difference.

Isn't the point of racing for a championship, the fact that the person that wins the most races, and gets the most points wins the title????????? I could be wrong, but in almost every other form of motorsport that is the way it goes. This whole shoot-out nonsense is exactly that! The winning rules don't make the Championship more exciting, the racing does! Look back to the earlier years.... 90's etc! The racing, and championship were amazing!!!! We, that watch it no best! And i mean the fans! Go back to the original format that is used, i.e the man/woman with the most points wins!!!! It's very simple!!!! And has worked for many years, in all motorsport. Your giving Bernie idea's!!!!!
