BSB » Hopkins 'pulling the pins' for BSB Showdown

"To say Hopper is ready would be an understatement. He's is literally 'pulling the pin', or pins, as we speak" – Jack Valentine.

What a load of bollox....if he wins he wont be my champ. The guy with the most actual points at the end of the season will be the fans winner....if Hopper or anyone else wins despite not being able to mathematically then they will be Palmer/Higgs champs but not ours...if it does happen then the silver lining is that it might just destroy this whole shootout nonsense

Lost out on 9 Podium Credits maximum (Points) at Cadwell so he could afford the No Show.. If we had a proper points system he'd of missed out on 75 points.. My guess is he would of been there.. I like the guy and he's a great rider but if he wins the title now it's nothing more than a p1ss take..

I think Hopkins is well set for this showdown.
He has experience of Donington from his MotoGP days, already raced Silverstone this year in his WSBK outing and Brands isn't a new circuit to him anymore.

We'll see... Byrne goes well at all three also, plus Hill hasn't finished a race at Donnington for donkeys years, and didn't perform too well at Silverstone last season either.
Hopkins may well be able to hold his hand up in front of his camera-phone in sunny San-Diego, pretending to clench a fist and taking pictures of it, but how's that hand gonna hold up when he's got to grip hold of the bars and pull on the brakes of a 210bhp/200mph Superbike round Donnington Park (that he hasn't ridden for almost a month), starting in 2 days time ? It's gotta be a disadvantage if you ask me.
My money's on Shakey Byrne...

The 'real' winner will be the bloke with the most accrued points after the 3rd race at Brands in October. Currently that person is Shakey Byrne, as he had 300 points after Cadwell I believe, to Hills 280. I can't see Hopkins clawing back best part of 90 points on Byrne or Hill in 7 races, so from a an ethics and morals (and basic maths) perspective, the 'real' title fight is between Shakey and Hill. In my book, Hill needs to have accrued more points over the whole season than Shakey to really call himself the 2011 BSB Champ. F**k all this shootout nonsense. Higgs and Palmer are just corporate money-making mules. BSB has always been the feeder class for WSBK, yet now the friggin rules aren't even the same, so how can you align yourself with a World Championship whose rules you don't even share ?
What's next...? Riders who run off the track are allowed to rejoin their original place in the race next lap around...? So that the crowd can still see their favourite rider tearing around ?

What a complete load of old b0llocks.
Maybe they should scrap the points system and have the crowd hold up a score card at the end of the races issued to them as they enter the circuit. The rider who the 'crowd' like the most is the winner. Scr3w where he finishes in the race.
Racing ? Pah !! Screw that...!! It's just about entertaining the crowd.
Maybe they should get them to stand on the podium naked and the bloke with the biggest n0b gets some bonus points...

Either Tommy or Shane wins, its the right win - even if Tommy is a couple of points out of the old system and wins - he deserves it, coz last year he got mugged off. Last year he would have had enough of a cushion to win the championship. I think Tommy is owed a championship.

What difference does it make whether Camier won it half way through the season ? The rules of racing are the rules of racing FFS... Same as any other race series, including BSS, WSS, WSBK and all 3 classes of GP's.

Why does friggin Palmer have to be different ? Greedy pr1ck. They should never have sold that c**t the rights to the Championship - let the MCRCB, the teams and the UK arms of the main manufacturers govern and run it.

If they want to do something to stop riders on clearly superior machinery running away with the title after 7 rounds, well introduce what they're talking about for next season, i.e. effectively EVO rules for the BSB class, then you'll see who the most talented riders are, or at least who is prepared to ride closest to the limit. All this poncing around with the points is complete and utter b01locks.
Make it effectively a superstock class, where teams can't throw the kitchen sink at the bikes, and leave it at that. A win is a win is a win. More wins and podium
