Hill must have stuck qualifiers or super sticky tyres in for the last few minutes. He was nowhere near 1 second faster than the rest for most of the session. That's ridiculous....

FP1 makes sense now. Drying track right at the end of the session, and Hill obviously had to take a bigger risk and push harder than anyone else and risk a crash, possibly another injury that might impact his effectiveness in the final 7 races, and also despite having just witnessed his team-mate lob it at the scenery on a damp track. Other more sensible riders decided to back off a little as after all... it's FP1, not Race 1.
Sounds about right for Hill. Bull in a friggin china shop. I deserve this title cos I missed out on it last year, even though that was also because in the shootout I rode like... a bull in a china shop...
As the saying goes, 'only a true fool keeps doing the same thing, expecting different results...'

WOW John, you are certainly opinionated i will give you that, even if most of what you say is irrelivant or inaccurate.
The reason Tommy is pushing hard is that he wants to be #1 proper at season end, he wants the most points whichever way you look at the championship. Tommy (apart from the injury he got as a result of someone elses bike spilling oil over the track) has been up there all season pushing hard and it has been working. He has caught Shakey up to within 20 points, if he rode like you suggest then he might still be able to win via the shootout but wouldn't be the guy with the most real points at seasons end.
But hey-ho, you probably have multiple world and national titles John, hence your oh so expert view that we should all take on board....LMAO

John. You sound a bit bitter mate. Get a life. There's one key element to this team that seems to have made a difference to Tommy Hill this season and that's the genuis master stroke of Shaun Muir to bring in Gary Eckerold to manage this team. He appears to have brought some real consistancy to both riders. Michael Laverty seems to be finding some form as well. Just at the right time. I think you'll find Tommy really is that fast.

Hill is pushing hard because he wants to be the outright points leader at the end of the shootout regardless of how its scored ?
Right... I wasn't aware there were points awarded for pushing to or beyond the limit in a damp FP1, but then seeing as everything I say is 'opinionated, irrelevant and incorrect', whereas every word you write clearly must be gospel hot from the trackside, or even from your pillion ride with any rider you choose to be an expert about, and not your considered 'opinion' I guess maybe my understanding of the situation is wrong.
Thanks for enlightening me and all the other posters on here that sharing our views makes us 'opinionated and inaccurate', but your posted ramblings are actually opinion-free facts.
That's valuable info to know and I will bear it in mind when reading your future 'opinions'.

The point i was not so tactfully trying to make is that Tommy is pushing hard in all conditions. He wants to be up front all the time and there's nought wrong with that.
I didn't like the "bull in a china shop" analogy tbh, don't think it's fair. He has been on it big style and has reduced a massive points gap to Shakey. He hasn't been dangerous, he hasn't had silly accidents so i think you have no place questioning how he goes about setting up for his race weekend. For the most part, him and the team have done a sterling job this year and i dearly hope he takes the title this year. This is not someone who has had everything handed to him on a plate and he's had more than his share of bad luck. Time for Karma to come round, Tommy is a top lad Go #33!

Hey John....

I enjoyed your rant regarding the points system but laying into a rider just because he's fastest in a free practice session is unwarranted and smacks of a personal dislike rather than reasoned argument.....if he's that fast and prepared to push that hard early doors then so be it, doesn't seem to do Casey Stoner any harm!
