I'm a little suprised Shaky has switched to PBM from HM Plant,I wonder if some MOTO GP wild card rides are in the offering on the CRT project Paul Bird is involved in

There is a two page spread on this story and a seperate feature on the Ellison MotoGP CRT story - both in today's MCN.

Nick Morgans team is unaffected as his funding / support comes from Kawasaki UK. The PBM team is factory supported with funding from Kawaski Motor Europe and KHI direct. They have three of last years WSB bikes and will be testing jointly with the Kawasaki WSB team - so there are obviously very strong links there which will aid the development of both the WSB and BSB bikes although BSB will run a lower spec next year.

BSB will run a spec ECU with no rider aids and engine tuning is restricted to Supersport level although the bikes will feature full superbike chassis.

Re why did Shakey leave HM Plant Honda - I think the above provides some reasons, but in addition Shakeys HM Plant Crew Chief, Chris Pike, has left to join Ten Kate. Rea made it a condition of re-signing for Ten Kate that he got Chris Pike and Honda said yes - Shakey wasn't keen to start again with a new HM Plant crew chief - at PBM he knows all the guys well.

Re the comments on Gowland - He and Westmoreland recently completed 4 days of testing for WFR, so I presume he will be riding for them again. WFR can't announce their rider line up at the moment for contractual / sponsor reasons. Re who goes to HM Plant - I have no idea!

I have to say I wish Birdy and Shakey all the best for this year, and would imagine the racing in theory without all the electronics should be even better and closer than ever. Shakey, please please please go and squeeze palmers throat until he agrees to drop the crap scoring system and lets the best team/man over the whole season once again be crowned the BSB champion.

Have to say, from a big Shakey fan, that this was the last window for Shakey to get back to WSB or to CRT / MOTOGP. Think this is the least best choice for him. BSB is just too comfy.
