Pete.
Checa uses TC and anti wheelie which helps with tyre wear.BSB spec bikes not allowed such luxurys.
Up the rev limit on the Panigale and see how long it will last before needing a refresh and looking at the time sheets and the speed trap figures Ducati will have to do something to make their bikes competetive which will make them more fragile.
Running a Ducati is no more expensive than running a jap bike on the road i will grant you,but running a Ducati that is capable of winning BSB races is very expensive .
Ask Birdy, Colin Wright or Phil Jessop about the cost of running a front running Ducati if you think i am talking bull s@@t and then ask Michael Rutter how easy it is to ride a ducati without electronic aids.
Taking away external fibre cam belts and using a cam chain does not make a Ducati engine as durable as japanese bike.Ducati will tell you so but they are trying to sell you their bikes.time will tell.

even in superstock trim the panigale is uncompetative.
Leon Morris won the 848 Challange last year and today he failed to qualify for the superstock race not being able to match his 848 times from 2011 and people think that the panigale can compete in Superbike.
The superstock bike with the std electrics probably runs better than the Sbk version on motec electronics
It will take better teams with much bigger budgets than Jentin and moto Rapido to get the Ducati. anywhere near the front of BSB.
The time sheets dont lie.
