Anybody know WSBK lap times around Assen? It would be interesting to draw a comparison given the difference in technical regs between the 2 series.

Its no surprise for me that Smrz is fast. Assen has allways been his track. He will be even better once he gets used to the bike :-) Im looking forward to his performance in Brands Hatch...that will say us more about his BSB potential :-)

The most direct comparison you can probably make is comparing BSB FP1 with WSBK FP1, so...

Melandri - 1m 37.582s
Byrne - 1m 38.651s

Byrne's time would have placed him 15th in that WSBK session. Will be more difficult to compare the improvements going forward though as it rained during the WSBK weekend.

your right about it wsbk being wet....however....

Last years FP1 was dry and times were still

1m 37.159s and that was smrz fastest in FP1.
Moto Gp was 1m 35.106s

shakey would of been 17Th in moto gp fp1

You can always go back to 2011 dry races and superpole to have a realistic view:
Best lap in race 1 Tom Sykes 1'36".660
Race 2 Leon Camier 1'36".470
superpole 1st Carlos Checa 1'35".292
superpole 2nd Smrz 1'35".560
