You're 28 Tommy. What on earth are you thinking?

At first I thought his decision to take a sabbatical was sour grapes at not being able to land a good WSBK ride in 2012, but to retire from riding altogether?

Such a waste.

Still a young man with a wise head on his shoulders. You can't deny his frustrations at not being able to make a good living in what is a short-lived career in a dangerous sport. Given the money (even) Championship footballers make per week, compared to what most motorcycle racers get, I really feel for him. If he's done with riding then fine, but if not perhaps JP/MSV could broker a return for 2014? A Hopper/Hill re-match!

Tommy Hill is not stupid. Unlike most of the other riders he has options - he runs a successful graphics business and probably makes far more doing that than he ever did racing.
He's got nothing to prove ... won BSB and had a crack at the world level.
What is more foolish - to come back to racing for virtually nothing risking life and limb or focus on his growing business?
