A greater reward for claiming race wins during the opening portion of the British Superbike Championship season is to be introduced in 2014.

The podium credits system has worked well and provided dramatic championship finishes year in, year out.

That's obvious to even the most blinkered of you. If puts the focus on the fans which is where most motorsports events miss the point.

F1 championship, anyone?

It's bulls**t, yes it works, but it's bulls**t. I'm amazed a lot of the teams still enter the championship. They should do away with it. It was brought in to stop GSE obliterating the opposition after the 2008 and 2009 seasons. But with the new, more stock engine ruling there is no need for this farce to continue. As mentioned by @wotan there's been nothing wrong with the Supersport championship these past few years...

the podium credits has only worked well in the last three rounds . it makes the rest of the season a bit of a waste. but some people will like the system some will not. in my opinion it is a crap idea built for ticket sales at the final round which is at one of msv tracks. but to win you must take advantage of the rules and pull out all the stops when it matters the most. But i personaly would like to see every round count. if they want riders to keep racing till the last round even though the champinship is over pay prize money. because every rider wants to get paid just like we all do.

I also think it should be a standard system, but given that they clearly aren't going to revert to that, then I'd say this was a sensible 'tweak' to the points system.

The Camier total domination season frightened them into this system (note also how the Doohan steamroller made Grand Prix 500 seasons a lot less exiting, despite his talent for another example). So I can see why the somewhat artificial insurance that the last 6 races will be essential for the top 6 racers to fight hard for wins at (to win the Championship) has appeal for the organisers. Lets face it - if a rider is not in the top 6 going into the last 6 rounds then he isn't gonna win it anyhow.

At least this change puts more emphasis on fighting for the highest position throughout the pre-showdown races, and rewards the rider AND still makes it probable that the "Showdown" element also still has an effect. I'm happy enough with this situation overall.

This system is totlly false.. the, "Winner" for the past 2 years, hasn't won!!!... Trying to create a last round showdown should come naturally between racers of equal ability...
