Hopkins had so much promise on the early career but injury after injury. Its great to see him in racing again and somewhat in shape/one piece. Hope he gets to test that Suzuki MotoGP bike...

Thumbs up also for Monster Energy guys. Even thogh Hopkins is an admited ex-alcoholic, they kept sponsoring him, and could see there is a great person beyond those problems he had. Many companies yould withdrawl in similar situation.

That said, I expect Hopkins has great succes in the future toi come.
I always admire people who can get past problems and stand on their feet again like him.

Fantastic interview, fair play to Hopper for being so open and honest about all aspects of his life.

@rbr46 Yes he was, but since the start of 2007 he's been sponsored by Monster.

Good interview. All those comments about his injuries make me wince... he seems to have a hard time dealing with them too, which may be unusual for a top level motorcycle racer.

For his sake, I hope he has an injury free year first and foremost, and I'd love to see him take the title!

Hopper has had some nasty debilitating injuries. Coming back at all to risk life and limb when you've had joints replaced and bits amputated and constant pain.... Not many people could put themselves repeatedly back in harms way and push to the limits motorcycle racing demands. Truly a breed apart and massive bottle.

Good luck Hopper!

John Hopkins has always been on the extreme side of things. Whether it's partying, crashing, flat out hauling @ss or shaking off injury and never giving up...he usually does it better than most!

Go Hopper!!!

An addictive personality who knows nothing else. Tough life, but what a ride, and an entertainer. Completely bonkers to still be racing, but the best of luck. The series will be enriched by his presence.
