He was never any good on the short circuits anyway.

Doubt he'll ever get back to the form he was in prior to the injuries which is understandable considering the extent of them.

Great shame as he's been a top quality rider on the roads, but I guess thats racing.

SMR were very loyal to him throughout his time out with the terrible leg injury and stuck by him when most thought he would never race again.
Ian has performed near miracles to make it back on the track but it would seem that getting back to the front in both short circuits and the roads is just a step too far.
Very sad all round and I hope the Ian is happy and sucessful as whatever he chooses to do next.

oleteddyonahonda: Great likeable rider, shame the injury has had such an impact on his career since

True, but didn't he come back and win the Macau GP after the accident?
Nonetheless its a shame for him to leave BSB.

Tetley: He's still a star on the roads.

By his own admission...not this year

That's just his usual modesty underplaying his status. He wanted to do better and was disappointed in himself, so he's feeling down. But ask any event organiser or promoter and they'll say Hutchy is still a star attraction.

Too soon going into superbikes, maybe the big Yam just didn't suit. Hutchinson,s best results came on Padgetts Honda,s,, could have done better in stock 1000 or s/sport....( just my thoughts having watched the lad take 3 wins at the Ulster gp).
