Nice one.Glad Haslam Jr. has finally stepped up this year to do the job we all knew he was capable of.I really hope he has a couple of good races.I think a lot of the criticism of him this year has been a touch unfair to be honest.Sure,he has been outshone by the likes of Crutchlow,Sykes and Shakey at times. What about Watanabe ?,he has been far more disappointing than Leon all year and yet no one ever seems to mention him.

I think the criticism of Leon is fair as he has had a fair shot at the title on ALL the top team and yet he falls short of the mark.

Watanabe has been a disappointment but we have to remember this is his first year on the UK tracks, and I think it is fair to say he may not be here next year.

Half and half on both of those.

I don't think Leon's really shown what he's capable of this year and that's caused a lot of negative comments to the effect he's not capable of it at all... Which to my mind just doesn't fit the lad's history. I'd be pleased to see him prove the doubters wrong.

But to draw Watanabe into the comparison's not fair either. Like Macbeth says, its his first year on UK tracks. And our kart & goat tracks would come as a surprise to most overseas riders. Don't forget that 'tho Kiyo did do better in his first year than Watanabe has so far he only truly shone having had a year's experience. Suzuki wouldn't have sent Watanabe if he was a duffer.

I think haslam is the most overated rider on the grid, he only does well if everything is working perfectly otherwise he's going through his never ending list of excuses.

It may be possible Haslam underestimated how strong his teammate was going to be this year and has overridden at times trying to beat him ?.I also think that pre-season many people believed he would walk to this years BSB title and anything less is seen as evidence that he is somehow rubbish ?.Personally I think he is a good rider,he has shown signs of that in the past and I think he is capable of doing a much better job than he has managed at times this year. The upcoming WSBK race at Donington (a track he knows like the back of his hand) will be a very good chance for him to prove his doubters wrong. He needs to run at least as well as Tom Sykes did at Brands. If not the knives will be out.

Haslam has had a lot of bad luck with the bike, also tyres.

There's been lots of races this year where he has been on the pace at the front, then dropped back. Tyres being the issue.

As the riders dont have their personal choice of tyres this season (the tyres being the same throughout the paddock), some riders are having trouble, some riders are loving it. Leon is unfortunately one of the ones having trouble.

Leon's last 2 seasons on his preferred tyres have been excellent. 2 riders better than him, beat him last year, one of those riders beat him the year before. Leon can do better. And i think he will. Give the guy a break

Interesting point that about tyres.

There was much talk about the one make Pirelli rule making for a leveller playing field.
But the damn things are inconsistent - You only need look at Haga in WSB last week (and listen to his tactful be claer comments).

The spec might be slightly different between the two series but bet your ass the quality control won't be .... or if it is it won't be in BSB's favour.
