Ditto the above. I've maintained an interest in the careers of the riders who were introduced via the Yamaha Cup. There were some stupid extra-curricular activities in the first TV series which, thankfully, were subsequently dropped, but the basic idea was sound, as is shown by the fact that I, and perhaps others who've commented here, feel a connection and still follow the fortunes of those who took part, including Crutchlow, of course. There's probably a lesson to be learned for those in the ACU who want, (or ought to want), to promote the sport to a wider audience, and thus attract more sponsorship. It's good to see British riders doing well at world level but they're doing so despite the British system, rather than because of it, as is shown by the fact that many emigrated to Spain to break into GP racing.
