Rob Mac continue testing at Knockhill

Rob Mac Racing were back on track for the latest stint of their intense pre-season testing schedule, with Knockhill giving Chris Walker, Michael Rutter and Graeme Gowland the chance to learn more about Yamahas.

With GSE Racing yet to hit the track with the new R1, Rob McElnea's team travelled up north for their latest outing, with all three riders managing more than 100 laps each.

Their first test of the year not to have been affected by adverse weather conditions, McElnea was delighted to have had an uninterrupted day of running.

"Our season started yesterday as this was the first real workout for the bikes and riders and it went perfectly! The sun shone all day and each rider completed over 100 laps each. The bikes never missed a beat and the valuable data will be downloaded in time for our next tests on Friday and Saturday.

"We feel we are getting familiar with the new bike and the riders are understanding how amazing the new engine feels on the track and working closely with my team. The testing plan is coming together now, a good day here at Knockhill was crucial, a day off today will give the engine management guy's time to digest the information. We are then back out on track on Friday at Oulton Park and Saturday at Silverstone so we can test work on the next stage of the development."

Rutter too was pleased that warmer temperatures had allowed him to get more miles under his belt ahead of the first round at Brands Hatch next month.

"It was a great day's testing, the sun came out and the temperature rose which gave us ideal conditions on track. The bike is starting to feel like my own now and I am really enjoying riding and working out how to get the best from this amazing new Yamaha. The team is working great together and another couple of sunny days at our next tests will set us up well for Brands Hatch."

"I am starting to get my teeth into this now,” Walker added. “Yesterday could not have gone better for me, the bike never missed a beat and we are getting more comfortable with every lap. Knockhill is tight and you have to be pretty accurate but I am getting dialled in now. We are back on track at the weekend which will be great for us and hopefully we can make another step forward."

If I were a betting man, I'd be putting an each way bet on Ellison and Camier. Much as I like Walker , there's one (maybe two) ingredient(s) missing in his championship recipe - luck (and age)
