Karl Harris' quest to break his British Superbike race win duck began in perfect style at Brands Hatch as the 2009 season began in earnest with a trio of practice sessions.
With plenty of question marks arising from pre-season testing after what has been a lengthy 'winter' period, it was Hydrex Honda who arrived in Kent as the team in form, with Harris and team-mate Stuart Easton locking out the top two positions in the two dry sessions.
Harris' lap time of 46.658secs in the morning was enough to keep him top throughout the day, although he came close to beating that later in the day.
A strong start to help put a disappointing, injury-riddled 2008 behind him, Harris is confident he can carry his form through the remainder of the weekend.
“The bike is really good – the team has put a lot of hard work into it, and I am enjoying it out there on track,” he said.
“I'm not making any predictions, but the pace I've had in practice I can maintain over a race distance, and, I know that there is more to come from the bike, so I am well happy with the game.”
