Easton sets sights on podium at Brands Hatch

Stuart Easton is targeting his first British Superbike Championship podium at Brands Hatch as he prepares to make his debut with the in-form Hydrex Honda team.

Although team-mate Karl Harris has set the practice pace so far this weekend, Easton has been only a few hundredths slower in most sessions, raising hopes that he can improve on his best BSB finish of fifth position this weekend.

Indeed, while the Scotsman concedes that he would like to be a little closer to Harris' speed, he is pleased to be competing towards the front of the field on his BSB debut with Shaun Muir's team.

“I am happy enough,” he told Crash.net Radio. “I'd like to be a little bit closer to Karl, but we've had a few circumstances that have been holding us back. On the other side of that though, I'm very pleased with my pace on old tyres so things look good. We just haven't done that one fast lap yet.”

Currently clutching the third quickest lap time of the weekend, Easton is eyeing a similar position come qualifying and race day.

“If I'm in the top five then I am near the sharp end and that's what I came here expecting,” he added. “Up until now we have had free practice, so if we can be in the top four then that will be good.

“Realistically I am targeting two podiums – although I'd like to win!”
