Just hours before he starts his first British Superbike Championship race from pole position, Sylvain Guintoli continued to stamp his mark on proceedings by topping morning warm-up.
Although foggy and damp conditions ensured lap times were around a second slower than the riders were managing in qualifying, Guintoli was still comfortably fastest by two tenths of a second from HM Plant Honda's Glen Richards.
Four manufacturers filled out the top five positions, with Airwaves Yamaha's James Ellison a promising third quickest, while Simon Andrews hauled his MSS Colchester Kawasaki into fifth. Only Karl Harris spoiled the pattern in fourth on the Hydrex Honda.
Mirror.co.uk Cup favourite Gary Mason was back inside the top ten in sixth, ahead of front row starter Steve Plater, while Chris Walker, Tristan Palmer and David Johnson completed the top ten.
The first race of the 2009 season is scheduled to begin at 13.00
