Camier reveals wet weather concerns

Leon Camier admits he could be facing a new challenge should rain arrive to disrupt proceedings in the second round of the British Superbike Championship at Oulton Park.

Although the Airwaves Yamaha R1 has been quick straight out of the box, taking a win at Brands Hatch and a pole position at Oulton Park, Camier reveals the bike hasn't turned a wheel in the wet yet.

With that in mind, he says they will need to gamble on a set-up ahead of the races should it prove rainy.

“I have never ridden the R1 in the rain, so hopefully we will get a few minutes before the races to try it,” he told Radio. “I don't know what we'll do setting wise, we may have to make something up and just go out and ride it.

In addition, Camier has revealed he has been practicing his starts, after admitting getting off the line quickly on the R1 has been something of a struggle so far.

“My last practice start was probably the best one I have done yet, but the one I did this morning was about a tenth off the best anyone has done. It was bad! The more starts we do, the more data we get, so Yamaha can go back and work something out. At the moment we are struggling a bit with starts, but it makes things a more exciting if we are coming from the back!”

Damp conditions greeted the riders during the 15 minute warm-up session, with Camier going second quickest.
