Walker fails to finish at Thruxton.

After making his and the Motorpoint Hendersons Yamaha team's first podium appearance of the 2009 BSB season at the previous Donington Park round, Chris Walker went from hero to zero at Thruxton when he failed to finish either race.

"Lets hope that's my bogey weekend out of the way, I have never had the best luck at Thruxton but this weekend was a joke!” said Walker, who had technical problems in both races.

“We struggled for a set up for qualifying but I knew I'd battle for a result on race day, to leave here without even having a go is really hard to take. People know I am a fighter and we will work hard to make up for this disappointment,” he declared.

Team-mate Graeme Gowland at least reached the flag, claiming twelfth and 13th.

"That was the hardest I have ever worked for a result like that, I have only ridden here once and that was on a 600cc road bike!” he said. “We did not get a setting that could cope with the bumps and lack of grip around this track, pretty frustrating as I am getting fitter now and want to step up. A couple of weekends off will help me and the team have time to work on the bike"

"Chris and Graeme had a very frustrating weekend, my team struggled to work out a setting that gave our riders confidence,” admitted team principal Rob Mac. “Thruxton is the fastest and bumpiest circuit on tour, a good stable bike is crucial and we could not give that to our riders. We will get back to the workshops and plan our tests before Snetterton, we have to step up for the rest of the season.”

Sorry, but as I was just relaying the information as given by Colin Wright about the initial setup data they got, as a BASE SETUP, which by all accounts was not a million miles off, and the fact the GSE boys built the bikes at the Yamaha WSBK workshops over in Italy to the specs supplied by the factory, I would have thought it was bloody simple to understand really. If you really believe the bikes were "near stock" you are an even bigger muppet, they might not have had the full factory engines, but all the chassis mods and electronics were there, and a well sorted chassis and electronics around brands is worth a bloody sight more than the 15 or so hp they lacked.

Everybody else seemed to find a set up. I honestly don"t know what to make of this team , there are some issues that need adressing certainly. As much as I respect all that Rob has done for BSB over the years this season has been a complete disaster apart from Dan Linfort in Supersport. I think a lot of riders will run for cover next year if offered a Rob Mac ride.
