Brookes misses race two

Josh Brookes will not make it out for the second ViSK.com British Superbike race of the day at Mallory Park after injuring his thumb in the six-bike pile-up during the opening encounter.

The Australian admitted to causing the accident that prevented Simon Andrews, Tommy Hill, Chris Walker, Karl Harris and John Laverty from finishing the first race, although the HM Plant Honda rider was the only one to come away with an injury.

Breaking a bone in his thumb, but avoiding ligament damage, Brookes has been forced to wear a cast and is likely to require surgery to correct the ailment. Team manager Havier Beltran says the injury could keep him out of action for up to a month.

This is a marketing disaster for HM Plant. Racing is supposed to promote the brand, but Brookes is doing exactly the opposite. Injury, ban - none of it matters coz I think Honda will be giving him the flick very soon.
