The Maxxis-Adept Yamaha team have confirmed Howie Mainwaring will see out the remainder of the 2009 British Superbike season with them after releasing David Johnson from his contract.
Johnson is in his second season with the team and has featured in the points on a handful of occasions, but he will not see out the year after discussions led to their agreement being ended early.
“Dave Johnson has formally been released from his contract after discussions earlier this week,” said development director Julian Mosquera. “We wish Dave all the best in his plans for the future and will endeavour to help in any way we can in his pursuit of another ride in the series.
“On behalf of the team, I would like to thank Dave for his contribution and the commitment he has shown throughout the 18 months he has been with us.”
His place in the team will be assumed by Mainwaring, who stood in for the injured Johnson last time out at Cadwell Park, scoring two points in the second race.
