SMT Honda has announced a return for the final two rounds of the 2009 MCE British Superbike Championship after securing sponsorship and a new rider in Karl Harris.

The team, which started the year with a single machine for Jason O'Halloran, has not raced since Mallory Park - where Michael Rutter produced their best-ever finish of fourth - following a budget shortfall.

Nonetheless, they have acquired sponsorship from, a website that provides legal advice to the biking community, a deal that will see them through to the end of the year.

"As everyone knows we have been out of the equation for the last three rounds and everybody has been working hard behind the scenes to try and secure the funding we needed to get back racing," Croft told the BSB website. "It has all come together over the last day really as we only had a meeting on Monday with They are a company local to where the team are based and wanted to help, so we have agreed a partnership for the final two rounds.

"We are anxious to get back on the grid and we want to make an impact. We were speaking to a couple of riders and it became apparent that Karl was available. We had discussions and he is eager to finish as near to the front as he can, so we think he is the best man for the job. We all want to finish the year with a bang and we are looking for a rostrum before the end of the season."

Having struggled to perform on the Rob Mac Racing prepared Node4 Yamaha at Croft, former Hydrex rider Harris, who is still eighth in the overall standings, was pleased to be riding a CBR1000RR again.

"The deal with SMT Honda has all come around really quickly after Croft and with the new sponsor and new team it is a good opportunity for me to try and end the season as we started it. Croft didn't go to plan that's for sure, but I needed more time to get used to the bike.

"The SMT Honda should be a good package and more like what I am used to. I am definitely still fired up for a good end to the season. I need to show that Oulton Park at the start of year was not just a one hit wonder."
