Ellison pleased to be back on top.

James Ellison may have lost the 2009 MCE British Superbike title to Airwaves Yamaha team-mate Leon Camier in Sunday's penultimate round at Silverstone, but he at least claimed his first on-track victory since July.

Ellison had been on-form all weekend, qualifying a much better than usual second behind Camier, before losing out on race (and championship) victory to his team-mate on the penultimate lap of race one.

But Camier briefly ran off track in race two and by the time he had recovered to second, Ellison was up front and out of reach.

Ellison thus claimed his fourth race win of the season and his first 'fair and square' victory since Mallory Park - having been gifted a Cadwell Park win in late-August when Camier was disqualified after the race had finished.

“It's been a mega weekend,” said Ellison. “From the very first session we've been quick and the second race topped it off. It feels good to beat Leon fair and square on the track.

“I think I've managed to find something a little extra in me and the bike, which we will carry on to Oulton Park. Congratulations to Leon on a fantastic championship win."

Ellison now holds a safe 51 point lead over third placed Stuart Easton (Hydrex Honda) heading into the season ending Oulton Park triple-header.
