Alex Lowes says he is close to graduating to the British Superbike Championship in 2010 after completing a successful test with the PR Racing team.

Lowes has spent the last two seasons competing in the FIM Superstock 1000, but while he was a podium winner with Kawasaki in 2008, he struggled for form on the Gimotorsports MV Agusta this season.

Nonetheless, Lowes is confident he has done enough to secure himself a spot on the BSB grid in 2010 after testing at Mallory Park with PR Racing, known better this year as the Maxxis Yamaha team.

"I joined the team at Mallory Park for some testing and it seemed to go really well," he told the local Lincolnshire Echo newspaper. "The weather was miserable but I enjoyed riding the bike, it felt good. Although you can never be sure, I think I will be getting the ride.

"I am hoping to be joining up with the team again in Jerez in Spain next month for more testing. I'm sure the weather will be better over there in January than it is here."

Lowes' 19-year-old twin brother, Sam, has already confirmed he will compete in the British Supersport Championship this season with GNS Racing
