Lowry set to join Easton at Hydrex in 2010?

There might no longer be any room at the inn at his 2009 employer Relentless Suzuki, but Ian Lowry appears to be closing in on a deal to partner Stuart Easton at Hydrex Honda in the 2010 British Superbike Championship...
With his 2009 employer Relentless Suzuki by TAS having now completed its line-up for the 2010 MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship campaign by recruiting Michael Laverty to partner runaway National Superstock 1000 Champion Alastair Seeley, Ian Lowry looks to be Hydrex Honda-bound, according to reports.

Italian website Bike Racing claims Hydrex is extremely keen to sign the Northern Irishman to join present incumbent and reigning Macau Motorcycle Grand Prix-winner Stuart Easton at the Guisborough-based squad for the forthcoming season, and that the two parties are close to reaching an accord.

Lowry was one of the undoubted surprises and indeed discoveries of 2009 aboard his GSX-R1000, finishing strongly and consistently inside the points and winding up an excellent fifth in the final riders' standings, in what was his debut campaign at BSB level after graduating from British Supersport.

To put that performance into stark perspective, the 23-year-old's Relentless Suzuki team-mate Atsushi Watanabe struggled to make much of an impression on the series at all, never once finishing inside the top ten and tallying a grand total of 14 points to Lowry's 170.

Bike Racing suggests that it was Lowry's decision to leave Relentless in pursuit of a different ride, convinced that he has the potential to fight for the title in 2010 – if only he has the right machinery underneath him to enable him to successfully do so.

It's looking good for Hydrex. I agree the last few years have been impressive with Ellison originally and Eastons outstanding run this year. Harris had good results for them occassionally, so did Tommy Hill. Teams on the up big time. They basically took over as no.1 Honda last year but it'll be tough to match that this year against the returning Kiyo and a seasoned Josh Brooks! Muir's got a choice between Ellison & Lowry then he can't go wrong either way in my opinion. Both would do a great job although Easton will be a tough t/mate to beat for any1 the way he's riding. BSB grid looks fantastic for 2010. Should be the best season ever. So many potential race winners its mouthwatering.
