Graeme Gowland will step down to the British Supersport class in 2010, riding ex-Eugene Laverty machinery for the newly formed PTR team.

Gowland finished 15th overall for Motorpoint Yamaha in BSB last season, emerging with a podium finish after the race one carnage at Mallory Park.

Having won the Spanish Supersport title in 2007, Gowland is looking forward to getting back onto a 600 - especially as he will have the same Honda machinery with which Laverty finished second in last year's World Supersport Championship, plus support from Laverty's Parkalgar team.

"I am really looking forward to being back on a Supersport bike and it is something I have been thinking about for a while as I have had most of my previous success in that class," Gowland told the BSB website.

"It is exciting for me as the PTR team will have Eugene's bike from 2009 and everybody knows that it is already a proven race winner.

"The team will be mainly family run and we are still looking for sponsorship, but we also have the bonus of some of the Parkalgar team hoping to work with us on weekends that don't clash with WSS," he revealed.

"Brains, who looks after Eugene, is aiming to come to a few rounds so that will be a boost for sure. I couldn't wait any longer to plan for the new season and I think the Supersport Championship is going to be a closely-fought title. I can't wait to get started!"
