Harris to Superstock, targets Superbikes return

Former BSB front runner Karl Harris insists it is his aim to get back into British Superbikes in 2011 after committing his immediate future to Superstock with Aprilia
Karl Harris is targeting a return to the British Superbike Championship in 2011 after opting to re-establish himself in the National Superstock Championship for 2010.

Harris will bring the Aprilia RSV-4 to the series for the first time after signing a deal with GR Motorsport, the former British Supersport Champion being pitted against the likes of Steve Plater and Glen Richards for the Superstock title.

Harris' move comes after he endured a difficult 2009 season with Hydrex Honda, the 'Bomber' failing to live up to a promising start and prompting the two to part ways before the end of the year.

Nonetheless, Harris is eager to put the disappointment behind him with a run to the title at Superstock level, a performance that he believes will necessitate an immediate return to the Superbike fold in 2011.

"It has been really exciting time for me getting ready for this new season and I can't wait to get on that Aprilia and show what it can do,” he told the BSB website. “We collected the bike this week and now it is all systems go. We are now getting ready for our first test with four days in Almeria before we come back to the UK for some extra days on some of the circuits here. I am definitely looking forward to it and I am happy as I see it as a new challenge for me.

"I think the Superstock Championship is as competitive as BSB and there are some really good riders in it so I need to show what I can do, especially as I still have unfinished business in BSB. I want to have a good season this year and there is no reason why we shouldn't.

“I think this is definitely the way for me to get my confidence back up again and we will see more of the old Karl. Once we have had a good year in Superstock then the plan is to move into BSB for 2011, so you haven't got rid of me just yet!"

Harris finished 14th in the 2009 BSB standings with a best result of second position, achieved twice at Oulton Park early in the season.

Had enough top rides and chucked most of them down the road. Too many young, hungry upcoming lads will force there way to the better rides and rightly so. Sorry Karl the end is in sight.
