Hill seeks to extend advantage

Tommy Hill takes the BSB points lead to Thruxton for the second round of the season
Tommy Hill will look to defend his position at the head of the British Superbike Championship standings as the series heads to Thruxton this weekend for the second round of the year.

The Worx Crescent Suzuki rider took a win and second place at Brands Hatch to secure the early championship lead ahead of James Ellison and will take a four point lead into the second meeting of the year.

Hill has found memories of the quickest circuit on the BSB calendar having secured pole on his last visit back in 2007 but said it was important not to get overconfident about his chances for the weekend ahead.

"The last time I raced at Thruxton, back in 2007, I took the BSB pole position, so I like it there!” he said. “It's a track where the rider really has to be on top of his game – with so many bumps you'll struggle to find the perfect set-up, so instead the rider needs to get his head around how to get the best from his bike and the circuit. Part of it is compromise, part of it is aggression.

"I am confident heading to Thruxton, especially after the win at Brands Hatch but it pays not to be too confident with such a long season ahead. I'll be happy to come away from there with a good stash of points and hopefully the championship lead still intact."

Hell Guru. Its taken you some time to surface again. As for giving credit, never do, then no one is disapointed. As I remember you were continually knocking James Ellison. You also said he was going to finsh 4th of the 4 HONDA riders. You also said Hill, Brookes, Seeley, Easton, Kiyo, Laverty and Kagayama would finish in front of him. That was only in the few post that I read. You no doubt had the rest of the grid in there somewhere. I welcome you to come and discuss this further, face to face if you like. Too busy at Thruxton, but Oulton Park onwards would be ok.
