Former British and World Superbike champion Neil Hodgson has announced his retirement after reinjuring his shoulder during warm-up for his BSB comeback at the Brands Hatch season opener.

:) Exactly 2002 against Bayliss and Edwards who were both on superior Michelins he was the only guy who got amongst them on Dunlops.......class act and one of the good guys........... Hopefully we will get the Hodgson humour in the studio as he's too good to ignore. Thanks for the great years Neil.

He rode his balls off in 2002 and won the title in 2003 so I would say either one of those. We have seen a couple of times when someone is expected to have a brilliant year and they collapse from the pressure and fall short. After 2002 Hodgson was expected to win and he flat out dominated. He pretty much kicked every one's ass and left no doubt who would win the title.
