MAP Group Triumph to complete 2010 season

MAP Group Triumph to race through the remainder of the British Supersport and Superstock 600 seasons
A new team will take the place of MAP Centurion Racing on the British Supersport and Superstock grid for the remainder of the 2010 season.

The team announced it was to withdraw from both series 'until further notice' earlier this month, with the the new MAP Group Triumph Racing team appearing instead at Cadwell Park to field AJ Venter in Supersport and Jimmy Hill and Josh Caygill in Superstock 600.

A short statement has now been released by Pete McNicholl from the MAP Group and Andrew Caygill from the VW Van Centre, West Yorkshire, which confirms that the team will compete for the remainder of the season.

The only change on the rider side is the downscaling of the Supersport programme from two riders to one, with Daniel Cooper having instead raced for the Smiths Triumph team at Cadwell.

“The newly formed team are pleased to announce that with the continued support of Triumph/MAP Group and its sponsors they will continue to compete to the end of the 2010 season with riders, AJ Venter in the Fuchs-Silkolene British Supersport 600 championship and Josh Caygill/Jimmy Hill in the Metzeler National Superstock 600 Championship,” the statement read.

“The team has experienced a very difficult three weeks and were able to show their team commitment to move forward at Cadwell Park last weekend.

“We wish to thank Triumph, MAP Group UK, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles and all of our other team sponsors who have been more than helpful and extremely supportive through this tough period of time.”

MAP Centurion Racing was formed at the start of the year after Tech 2 Racing's Dave Fairbrother and Centurion Racing's Paul Rees joined forces to create a new team with full Triumph support.
