Andrew Pitt gave a hint of things to come with a spirited performance on his British Superbike Championship debut at Mallory Park.

A baptism of fire for the Motorpoint Yamaha rider, who comes to the UK having raced on the international stage for several years, the compact Mallory Park circuit threw up plenty of challenges for the Australian.

Nonetheless, after qualifying inside the top ten during Superpole, Pitt kept the bike upright and raced confidently throughout the day, notching up an eighth and tenth place finish. It was a result he was satisfied with but eager to improve upon.

"I am pretty pleased to get this weekend finished, this is the only track I have ridden this bike at and it is definitely not a Superbike circuit! The local guys know their way around this track and if you're not totally flat out from the flag with a good start you really struggle to get through.

"I am a bit frustrated with the end results but I think we all worked well for our first race together, the bike is getting better and the team and I are getting to understand each other which will set us up for the next race.

"I am happy we have a race next weekend as I can get straight back to work and continue moving forward."
