Laverty ends Knockhill practice on top

Relentless by TAS Suzuki's Michael Laverty sets the pace at Knockhill, ahead of Josh Brookes and Stuart Easton.
Michael Laverty snatched the initiative as practice day for the sixth round of the MCE British Superbike Championship at Knockhill drew to a close, the Ulsterman dominating FP2.

Having been third fastest in the opening session, Laverty went straight to the top of the timesheets early on before lowering his time to an eventual best of 48.873secs.

The only rider to break into the 48secs bracket, Laverty was a good three tenths faster than second place man Josh Brookes on the HM Plant Honda.

Hondas filled three of the top five positions with Stuart Easton and Ryuichi Kiyonari following in third and fourth, while Michael Rutter rounded out the top five on his Ducati.

FP1 pace setter Tommy Hill had to settle for sixth on this occasion, ahead of Tommy Bridewell, the youngster moving up the order on the two-year-old Quay Garage Honda.

Alastair Seeley and Chris Walker maintained their top ten presence in eighth and ninth, ahead of Buildbase Kawasaki's John Laverty.

In the Evo category, David Johnson was fastest in 16th overall, ahead of fellow BMW rider Steve Brogan and Aaron Zanotti.

TAS and Michael have definitely got their act together, I remember Michael and Jonny Rea racing against each other at the sun flower with Jonny on superior machinery, he just could'nt shake Michael of and where is Jonny now. It would be great to see him as a wild card at Silverstone.
