Rain shower forces race one stoppage

A brief shower prompts a stoppage period mid-way through the British Superbike race at Brands Hatch.
The first British Superbike race of the weekend has been suspended at the half-way point after the arrival of rain prompted a red flag period.

Michael Rutter had been leading comfortably from pole position, but was being steadily reeled in by Josh Brookes and Ryuichi Kiyonari when a sharp shower forced officials to stop the race.

With eight laps completed, the order at that time will decide the grid for the second-half of the race, with the front row being made up of Rutter, Brookes, Kiyonari and Tom Sykes, while Michael Laverty, Alastair Seeley, James Ellison and Tommy Hill make up row two.

Race two will be a ten lap sprint.
