Laverty leads first Silverstone practice

Michael Laverty, second in the MCE British Superbike Championship after the first showdown round at Cadwell Park, set the pace during wet first practice for this weekend's penultimate Silverstone round.

The Relentless Suzuki rider finished the opening BSB session on the new Arena circuit with a best lap time just 0.001sec in front of Riders Ducati's Michael Rutter, with HM Plant Honda's Josh Brookes in third.

Worx Suzuki's Tommy Hill, who leads Laverty by 16 points in the standings, was fourth fastest and just 0.286sec from Laverty on a circuit with a lap time of over two minutes! All four led the session in the closing stages.

Chris Walker was the top non-title fighter in fifth on the sorrymate.com Honda, but 0.846sec behind Hill.

The two other 2010 title fighters - former champion Ryuichi Kiyonari and Laverty's team-mate Alistair Seeley - started the weekend in sixth (+1.742sec) and ninth (2.517sec) respectively.

@John Reynolds.. While you're here please explain to me when I posted on here that I agreed with the points system?? Please show me where I said anything other than it's bollox?? Don't come on here suggesting I'm hiding behind anonimity to make a point.. If you are who you say you are I think I know why you're p1ssed at me.. It's because I said previously that you're always in the WORX garage and nowhere near Relentless.. Which if you are who you say you are is clearly true.. So John if you are who you say you are "grow a pair" and post on here the real reason you're p1ssed at me.. If you're not THEE John Reynolds then your hiding behind a false name which is what you accused me of doing.. I've never said the rules were anything other than bollox.. All I said was there's 3 races at Oulton.. If it p1sses it down there which is highly likely that will play into Laverty's and Rutter's hands and to a lesser extent Seeley's.. No that isn't fair it's a mockery.. Please don't come on here sug

@John Reynolds.. Fancy that Laverty, Rutter and Seeley top six in race one Silverstone in the rain.. After Seeley's struggled with set up all weekend.. Previous post predicted it at Oulton.. This post confirms it at Silverstone.. I've never said what you've suggested I've said.. I've only ever pointed out the obvious.. Laverty and Seeley on equal bikes are at the very least the equal of Tommy Hill.. We all know bikes are more equal in the rain.. That is my opinion.. Feel free to differ..
