Loris Baz says he cannot wait to get back to racing next season after he completed his first test as an official Motorpoint Yamaha rider in Spain.
The Frenchman was confirmed as the team's lead rider for the 2011 British Superbike season as a reward for his impressing outings with the Rob McElnea-helmed squad towards the end of the 2010 campaign.
Travelling to Cartagena to rack up further miles on the Yamaha R1, the former European Superstock 600 winner was pleased with his progress, despite a crash on the second of the three-day test.
“Three days of sunshine and riding my Superbike is like winning X-Factor! I really could not wait to get back on my bike. I had managed a test on a Moto2 bike in Valencia a couple of weeks earlier, but the full power of the Superbike is amazing.
“I had a bit to difficulty staying cool and being patient with the bike and had a crash on the second day, but everyone has to have a couple of crashes to understand the bike!
“On day three I was back on the bike and doing good times, I can now chill out and enjoy my Christmas with a lot more knowledge of my bike. We will test again in the New Year but I really want to race now!”
Baz, who was joined at the test by James Westmoreland, joined Motorpoint Yamaha for the final three rounds of the 2010 season, the youngster impressing with four top ten results from seven races around unfamiliar circuits.
