Andrews joins PR Kawasaki in BSB EVO

The 26-year-old will likely start the 2011 EVO series at hot favourite having established himself as a front runner over the past two seasons.
Simon Andrews has confirmed he will target the British Superbike Championship EVO title in 2011 after securing a deal with the PR Racing Kawasaki team.

The BSB podium winner has been without a ride after being replaced by Stuart Easton at MSS Colchester Kawasaki, but has since landed at PR Racing, which in turn is switching from Yamaha machinery.

An opportunity to remain in the Kawasaki family he has enjoyed success with over the last two seasons, Andrews is delighted to have secured one of the few remaining seats on the 2011 grid.

“I am really looking forward to being back on a Kawasaki for the third year running,” he said. “This year's EVO looks like being a very competitive championship and with the team's official backing from Kawasaki Motors UK, I believe that the combination of the new ZX10-R and my experience on the bike will make us a strong contender from the off.”

With the Liverpool-based team receiving backing from Kawasaki UK in its quest to win the EVO title, team director Julian Mosquera is honoured to be welcoming an established rider to its operation.

“It is absolutely fantastic that we have secured a rider of Simon's calibre. Given where BSB is going technically, it is a great opportunity for PR Racing and Kawasaki Motors UK. As a team, we are really excited at the opportunities and expectations for the season ahead, and cannot wait for the Easter weekend and the first round at Brands Hatch.”

Andrews's deal with PR Kawasaki signals the latest boost for the EVO category, which enters its second season in 2011. He joins Glen Richards and Graeme Gowland in committing to the series having scored an overall podium finish at BSB level.

Andrews finished 13th overall in 2010 after an injury-interrupted season.

No disrespect to PR Kawasaki and wish them all the best in 2011 but i cannot believe there was not a top ride available in BSB for Simon. He's young, mega talented, good image for potential sponsors and a genuinely good guy. Wish him and the team all the best in 2011.
