Motorpoint Yamaha duo rack up miles at Knockhill

Loris Baz and James Westmoreland continue their preparations for their first full British Superbike campaign with a test at Knockhill.
Loris Baz and James Westmoreland are looking forward to measuring themselves against their British Superbike rivals after completing another successful test for Motorpoint Yamaha at Knockhill.

Having already racked up miles at Cadwell Park, the pair enjoyed the warm weather as they moved north of the border to take in the compact Scottish circuit.

Though it was a first visit to the venue for Baz, the youngster was pleased to have now managed two uninterrupted tests as he builds up to his first full season in BSB.

“I am very happy with the way our build up is going, I have now had some valuable track time at two of the tracks I have never seen so that was great. I really like both Cadwell and Knockhill, so that makes it more fun.

“The team and I are getting to know what we need and I am getting on well with James, he knows the tracks pretty well so sharing data has been great. One week off then we get to go to the new Snetterton with all the other teams so we will see how we look.”

British Supersport lap record holder Westmoreland, meanwhile, says his transition to Superbikes is going from strength-to-strength.

“Another really good test under our belts,” he said. “I was worried about both Cadwell and Knockhill on the Superbike but I needn't have, the bike is working great and we are tweaking as we go with new parts and more info from my style.

“Every time I ride I learn more and I am gathering more confidence with every lap, I really get fired up to get back on my bike for every test. I am so looking forward to getting racing!”

Looking forward to seeing Baz in action.. Westmorland is a tryer and more than a decent rider as well.. Like others I've been sceptical about the team in the past.. Don't think these guys will be contenders for the title.. But they'll keep a lot of the "Top Riders" honest.. Linfoot put the bike on the front row at Brands Indy last year.. These guys are more than capable of emulating that..
